45th State Level Students' Science Seminar held, prizes distributed

The 45th State Level Students' Science Seminar was successfully held at City Convention Centre, Palace Compound yesterday.
The seminar was organised by the Science Unit, Department of Education (S), Manipur Government under the aegis of National Council of Science Museum, New Delhi.
The seminar brought together some of the State's brightest young scientific minds from Classes VIII to X .
This year's seminar was held on the topic, "The Quantum Age Begins: Potentials and Challenges", encouraging participants to explore the revolutionary possibilities and pressing challenges associated with quantum technology, blending creativity with research-based knowledge.
The prize distribution function of the seminar was graced by dignitaries, including Ng Bhogendra Meitei, Director, Education (S), Manipur; Bisheshwar Khumukcham, Additional Director, Education (S/V), Manipur; and Dangmei Manglem, Additional Director, Education (S/H), Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Ng Bhogendra said that in the National Achievement Survey, students in Manipur showed performance above the national average in literature, science and mathematics.
He asserted that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs have been established in Higher Secondary Schools across the State to promote computer literacy and computer-aided learning.
"These labs are equipped with hardware, software, and educational content to provide students with computer skills, bridge the digital divide, and enhance their learning experiences, especially for students from disadvantaged backgrounds", he added.
He also shared that the Department is working on developing an application to record the attendance data of students and teachers of schools across the State and upload it in the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) web portal.
Winners of the 45th State Level Students' Science Seminar in the order of merit are - Arnika Ahongshangbam of Mother's Pride Academy; Shree Laishram of Nirmalabas High School, and Aniket Mishra of Sainik School, Imphal.
Amika Ahongshangbam will represent Manipur at the National Students' Science Seminar 2025, scheduled to be held at Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum, Bengaluru on October 30.Cash awards along with citation, memento and books were presented to the top three winners.
Consolation prizes were presented to 14 students.
