In a heartfelt tribute to the wisdom and legacy of elders, Assam Rifles organised a vibrant Tree Plantation Drive on the occasion of Senior Citizenship Day at Wanglee village, Manipur on August 21 .
Spearheaded by the Wanglee Company Operating Base, the initiative was conducted in close collaboration with local village authorities, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and intergenerational harmony.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the event unfolded with spirited participation from villagers of all age groups - elders, youth, and children - who came together to plant over 200 saplings of native species across designated areas of the village.
The drive not only aimed to enhance the green cover and restore ecological balance but also served as a symbolic gesture of nurturing life and legacy, much like the role of senior citizens in shaping communities.
