TIM holds crucial meeting with AK Mishra

Imphal, February 21 2025:
A team of Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) led by its president and general secretary met with AK Mishra, Advisor (North East) to the Ministry of Home Affairs at his office in North Block, New Delhi on February 17 .
During the meeting, TIM discussed the futility of violence, loss of many precious lives and properties on both sides who are party to the violence, but also those who are not a party, especially Thadou tribe, said a press release issued by Manggou Thadou, joint general secretary, TIM.
A roadmap of peace by Thadou Inpi Manipur was presented for lasting peace in Manipur while highlighting the suffering of Thadou tribal community.
TIM also reiterated that "Thadou is not Kuki, or underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but a separate, independent entity from Kuki".
"The atrocities and persecution of the Thadou people because of their Thadou identity at the hands of Kuki supremacist forces, especially the armed Kuki supremacist militant groups and their frontal civil organizations, for the last several decades were also highlighted", it added.
In response, AK Mishra spoke about peace efforts and steps taken up by the Government of India, while acknowledging the concerns of Thadou community and their distinct identity.
According to the press note, the MHA Advisor acknowledged "the prevailing misconceptions about Thadou being often mistaken as Kuki by many people".
He expressed his appreciation and respect for Thadou identity and their stance, role and commitment of Thadou community and their leadership for peace and non-violent solutions.
