Training programme concludes

A two-day training programme on "Roughing and Disease/Pest Management in Quality Seed Production of Kharif Rice" under AICRP on Seed (Crops) successfully concluded yesterday at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.
The programme was organised by ICAR RC NEHR Manipur Centre in collaboration with all its five Krishi Vigran Kendras (KVKs).
As per a release issued by ICAR RC NEHR Manipur Centre, a total of 48 farmers from Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Chandel and Ukhrul districts participated in the training programme.
During the two-days event, Dr Konsam Sarika, Scientist and Nodal Officer of NEH Region, AICRP on Seed (Crops) project deliberated on the need of quality seed production and timely availability of seeds to the farmers of Manipur.
Subject matter specialists, Salam Gunamani Singh, KVK-Imphal West; Dr Kolom Rabi, KVK-Tamenglong; Dr Leenda Monsang, KVK-Chandel; Dr N Ajitkumar Singh, KVK-Ukhrul and Dr N Johnson Singh, KVK-Churachandpur delivered lectures pertaining to roughing, pre/post-trans-plantation, harvesting practices and disease/pest management.
Farmers who had strictly followed the scientific approaches were incentivized with cono-weeder and power operated sprayer.
The inputs were distributed by Dr Ch Basudha Devi, HoRC, ICAR RC NEHR Manipur Centre.
As part of the practical exposure, a field visit was conducted at Patsoi Part 4, Imphal west, where participants observed a demonstration of the line transplanting method for rice (RC Maniphou-16).The visit aimed to familiarize farmers with proper spacing and layout techniques that enhance crop management and yield potential in seed production plots.
