Paddy stacks set on fire by unknown miscreants; MLA, LEWA condemn atrocious act

Thoubal, November 23 2018:
A paddy stacks kept for harvesting in a field situated north of IRE School, Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Police, was set ablaze by some unknown miscreants today.
The owner of the field was identified as Laishram Mani Singh (55), s/o (L) L Ibomcha from Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai.
As per the report received from the spot, the paddy stacks which were set aflame was collected and stored by the family members of the owner a day before for machine harvesting and it is believed that the paddies were collected from 1 sangam of field.

Saying that the news of the incident was heard from the walking goers at around 3.30 am, today, Ranjana, w/o the field owner maintained that they do not have any bad blood with any individuals.
A team of Thoubal Fire Service and local people tried hard to douse the flame but failed to save the majority of the stacks.
A team of Thoubal Police also arrived and inspected the place.
As per the police, the stacks were believed to be put on fire in the late hour of previous night.
Even though, there is not a single clue about the miscreants for now, the police personnel found a disposable glasses and polythene used for liquor lying 50m away from the field.
A case was registered at Thoubal Police and started investigating the matter.
On the other hand, Wangjing Tentha AC MLA, Paonam Brojen condemned the dreadful act and announced 10 sacks of paddy for the victim family.
The MLA further appealed all the concerned not to repeat such atrocious act in the future.
Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA) too condemned the burning of paddy stacks by unknown miscreants and appealed the concerned authorities and State Government to take up initiatives to prevent repeating such unfortunate incident in the future.
