Rally, health talks mark World Heart Day

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Manipur, in collaboration with World Heart Federation observed World Heart Day at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal today.
The World Heart Day observance was marked by a public awareness rally and health talks aimed at raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).
Speaking on the occasion, Chanambam Fhanguni Singh, president, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Manipur, said that World Heart Day is observed every year to raise awareness about CVDs and encourage preventive lifestyle changes to promote heart health.
He asserted that CVDs are the leading cause of death worldwide, making proactive steps, healthy diets, regular check-ups, and adopting heart-healthy lifestyles crucial for preventing these potentially fatal conditions.
In his address, Dr Moirangthem Pratap highlighted the primary causes of heart disease such as high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, chronic stress, and physical inactivity.
He also explained common symptoms associated with heart diseases, including chest pain or discomfort, shortness of breath, persistent coughing, fatigue, and rapid or irregular heartbeats "If we experience any discomfort or symptoms related to our heart, we should consult a doctor immediately", he advised.
As part of the observance, a rally was also carried out in Imphal to Spread awareness about heart diseases, especially among children.
