Ukhrul, July 23 2025:
The Affected Private Land Owners Association (APLOA) has expressed strong dismay and voiced protest against the Committee on National Highway NH-102A for its alleged indifferent attitude towards landowners affected under the Phungyar sub-division.
Speaking to this correspondent, APLOA convenor Yuingam Kapai stated that landowners under NH-102A Package-1 have taken the matter of compensation to court, seeking an inclusive resurvey to ensure justice is served equally.
However, Kapai claimed that some individuals of the area frequently interfere with APLOA's efforts, allegedly to appease the Government officers for their vested benefits.
"This has sabotaged our work in many ways," said Kapai.
Consequently, the affected landowners from both Package-1 and Pack-age-II held a joint meeting at Phungyar on July 17 and was unanimously resolved that the NH-102A from (SSK-TNP) construction work came into separate package, reaffirming the rights of the genuine landowners to seek fair compensation.
Prem Ningshen secretary of NH-102A package-II, voice disapproval over interference by some residents of Maileng, Sorde, Sorathen, Punge, and Sorbung villages, stating that these areas although under Package II, no longer represent the concerns of genuine landowners and have failed to address pressing grievances.
The APLOA has also called on Rungshing Angkhang, convenor of the Committee on NH-102A affected villages in Phungyar block, and Lungshim Althary, secretary of Package-3 Kasom Khullen block, to cease all meddling in compensation matters.
