5-day Drone Bootcamp for police personnel underway in Senapati

Senapati, August 21 2025:
A five-day Drone Bootcamp-20.0 for police personnel under the initiative "Capacity Building for HRD in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drone and Related Technology)" was inaugurated today by NIELIT Imphal at its Senapati Extension Centre.
The training, designed for the police personnel of Senapati district, focuses on the "Assembly of Micro Category Quadcopter Drones".
A total of 25 police personnel, including the Additional SP Senapati and SDPO Senapati, are actively participating in the training programme.
The programme is being conducted under the guidance of Gangmei Gailunglu Kabuini, OIC NIELIT Senapati, and Project Associate KL Rita Kho.
The training is being conducted by a technical team comprising Dairilshing Tarao, Project Assistant, and AS Themvinah, with the SwaYaan Project led by Angom Buboo Singh, Scientist-E (CI), and Thokchom Chittaranjan Singh, Technical Officer (Co-CI).
According to ML Kaisungbou, Addl SP (NH), the programme was initiated to enhance police knowledge on drone-related laws and their practical use.
He emphasized the critical role of drones in disaster management, particularly in tackling large-scale popply plantation issues in the region.
He added that the police must embrace technology not only for operational efficiency but also to support law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations.
Instructor and master trainer, Dairilshing Katrimsha Tarao, Project Assistant, NIELIT Imphal, stated that the bootcamp will run for five days.
The first day/introductory was devoted to theory and history of drones along with component familiarization.
The second day focused on assembling drone components, while the third day involved hands-on training using open-source software.
The fourth day featured flying exercises at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati, followed by group competitions.
The final day will conclude with an exam worth 30 marks for all participants.
