Following summoning of some teachers by an underground group in connection with the alleged irregularities in PhD admission in various departments of the Manipur University and slapping of monetary demands to these teachers by another group, Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) convened a general body meeting today.
This was revealed today in a press meet called by the teachers' body at Mathematics Department of the University.
MUTA president Dr M Ranjit conveyed that after having a thorough discussion, the meeting unanimously decided to urge the concerned UG group to withdraw the monetary demands being slapped to some teachers of the University.
The meeting also decided to plead to all the concerned organisations not to impose any unbearable pressures and interfere in the affairs of the teachers' community, he added.
Ranjit said that the association also resolved to urge the University authority to issue a clarification on the matter of admission test for Phd programmes.
He also said that MUTA would welcome all the suggestions from every group and individual to enhance the academic atmosphere of the University.
