AAMSU bats for quality education in Manipuri medium schools

Silchar, November 17 2014: The All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU) Lakhipur district committee organised a one day workshop on " the issues faced by the Manipuri people of Assam and the challenges that lie ahead in the future for the community" at Lakhipur on Sunday.

At the workshop, a formal discussion was held where various dignitaries, teachers and members of AAMSU shared their views on the said topic.

The formal meeting was presided by the president of AAMSU Lakhipur district committee, Y.Molina Devi.

Th.Krishna Mohan Singha, retired school Inspector graced the occasion as chief guest.

The president of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Naresh Thiyam graced the occasion as guest of honor and the president of AAMSU central committee, Seram Herajit singha and L.Manimohan Singha were present as special invitees of the workshop.

The special invitees and various others teachers shared their views on the topic including the Government of Assam's indication to close Manipuri medium schools due to lack of students, the present situation of Manipuri people in the field of politics, reason behind the weak action of Meira Paibi in current situation, loss of work culture among the community which tremendous effects on socio-economic condition and many more others topic were discussed.

At the final phase, advisor of AAMSU, Y.Ramkumar Singha said that they would also organise similar workshops in four blocks of Lakhipur.

While addressing the gathering, Naresh Thiyam said that all the topics of the workshop are in connection with education.

"AMSU will also provide necessary support to the AAMSU" he added.

Meanwhile, Seram Herajit Singha said that this workshop is not concluded here.

He said such workshops would be organised in various districts including Hailakandi, Sonai, Hojai and many others.

Meanwhile, AAMSU Hailakandi district committee organised a science exhibition at Sanarei Meitei High School at Lala on Saturday.

The science exhibition was inaugurated by former teacher Naureya Amusana.

Students of class I to X of various schools of the district put on display more than 22 models at the science exhibition.

Models on remote control blinking light, alluvial soil, electric bell, prism models, Kaleidoscope, thermo- meter, conservation of rain water, and various drawings including kidney, carbon cycle etc attracted the visitors.

After the display of the models, an open session was held which was presided over by the president of AAMSU central committee, Seram Herajit Singha.

Naureya Amusana graced the occasion as chief guest and K.Chan-drasekhar Singha as guest of honour.

While addressing the gathering, Seram Herajit Singha said this is the first science exhibition organised by AAMSU.

He added that the exhibition would provide brief idea to the students present here about an exhibition and practical knowledge about what they studied.

Later prizes were distributed to the winners of the exhibition/competition divided into three categories; LP level, ME level and High School level.

In the LP School level, Niha Sharma, Shyamal Singha and Pritam Singha jointly bagged the first position.

The 2nd and 3rd prizes were secured by the Siloja Singha and Sabita Singha.

In the ME level, Kinan Devi, Snigdha Sharma, Ch.

Bebita Singha and L.Leik-tombi Devi jointly bagged the first position and the 2nd position was secured by Khu-man Arjit and Pukhrambam Manglemba.

.LAbishek Singha, M.Panthoisan Singha, M.Korouhanba Singha and S.Nelson Singha jointly won the third prize.

In the High School level, K.Randita Devi, L.Susmita Devi, M.Kaujenleima and L.Lamdaleima jointly secured the first position.

Seram Borjit, Salam Amit and H.Roshan jointly bagged the second position and third position was secured by the Houbam Bikendra.

All the winners were given cash prizes.
