Second National Lok Adalat of 2024 held widely

The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with the High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) organised the second National Lok Adalat for the calendar year, 2024 on May 11 at all the District Courts & High Court of Manipur.
Justice A Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & executive chairman MASLSA and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Judge, High Court of Manipur visited the sitting of National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court Complex, said a release issued by MASLSA.
Justice A Bimol Singh and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu also interacted with all the Chairman and Members of the benches, Advocates and PLVs.

While interacting with the media persons, Justice A Bimol Singh stated that National Lok Adalat is held throughout the country as per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) .
For the State of Manipur, it is held in all the District Court Complexes, said Justice A Bimol while highlighting that Lok Adalat is a mechanism for settlement of disputes without wasting much time & money through mutual agreement between the parties.
"The decree passed in the Lok Adalat are akin to decree passed by any civil Court and they are final and no appeal may rise before any other Court", he added.
Notably, the next National Lok Adalat will be held on September 14, 2024 & December 14, 2024 .
Interested parties who desire to settle their cases may approach MASLSA or DLSAs for listing their cases.
Around 2000 numbers of pending & pre-litigation cases were listed for the entire State.
The cases range from Civil cases & Criminal Compoundable cases pending before Courts, Bank recovery, MACT, Matrimonial disputes, Negotiable Instrument Act, Water Bill cases, etc.
Out of 188 cases which were taken up today, 177 cases were successfully resolved with a total settlement amount of Rs 1,82,83,801 .
N Lanleima, Presiding Officer, MACT; Monalisa Maibam, Special Judge, ND&PS (FTC), Manipur & Dr Laishram Rina Devi, Civil Judge (Sr Division), Imphal East presided as Chairperson of 3 benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.
Ch Momon Singh, Advocate; H Ranabati Devi, Advocate; Angothoiba Meitei, Advocate; Th Mahira, Advocate; P Premchand, Advocate and Rameshwor Luwang, Advocate provided their service as members of the benches.
MALSA has expressed its appreciation to the Presiding Officers, Judicial Officers, Ld S Devananda, Advocate & Media Coordinator, Ld Advocates, PLVs, staff of the Court & MASLSA, officials of Bank/ Insurance Companies, news/ print media & all the parties for contributing and participating in the National Lok Adalat.
