Meitei Society Churachandpur celebrates 68th Foundation Day

Meitei Society Churachandpur celebrated its 67 Foundation Day today at Kwakta Sericulture Prefabricated House Relief Camp located at Kwakta.
The event was attended by Social worker, Md Anwar, Meitei Council Moreh, president Mayanglambam Thoiba, Salai Kanba Lup, president Leichombam Gopal, Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup, president Angom Nayeni Leima and Meitei Society Churachandpur, president Moirangthem Thoiba as presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address to the gathering, Meitei Society Churachandpur secretary N Romesh stated that the society was established with the aim to foster holistic development and welfare of Meitei residents of Churachandpur.
He said that due to the May 3, 2023 violence in the State, the Meiteis of Churachandpur have fled the town, and are now taking shelter at 42 relief camps scattered across the State.
"Due to exposure to the violence, the children are now severely impacted with mental stress and trauma.
Therefore the Meitei Society Churachandpur for the well being of the children and to ease their mind, the society have been organising various educational activities such as Essay Competition and study tour," said Romesh.
He also assured the people that the Society will extend every possible help when it comes to medical attention for the IDPs of Churachandpur scattered at various relief camps across the State.
Later, the winners of the Essay Competition which was held under two categories (Class VII-VIII) and (Class IX-X) for the internally displaced students were also felicitated with certificates and cash prizes.
The gathering also observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late members of the society and the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in the ongoing violence.
