May Day observed widely in State

May Day was observed widely in the State on Thursday in honour of the labourers and working classes.
The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council in collaboration with Khundrakpam Jugeshwar Memorial Trust observed May Day at the residence of Khundrakpam Sushila in Loitang Khunou.
It was attended by Khundrakpam Jugeshwar Memorial Trust chairman S Rajen and advisory member L Kula; CPI state assistant secretary Maisnam Joykumar Luwang and M Sakhi Devi among others.
The celebration began with the offering of floral tributes to a photograph of Late Khundrakpam Jugeshwar.
The Indian Trade Union Congress (INTUC) also observed May Day at Congress Bhawan, Imphal.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including MPCC vice president, Hareshwar Goswami; INTUC Women Wing chairman, Thoudam Subita Devi; MPCC Legal Department chairman, S Shyamacharan Singh; INTUC Manipur branch secretary, S Sanjeet; Motiya Worker ex-general secretary, Vijay Sardar; social workers N Mahananda Singh, G Genao Sharma, Md Subhan Khan and Mukesh Kumar Jat.
Similarly, National People's Youth Front (NPYF), Mayang Imphal also celebrated May Day at the residence of NPP Manipur State Unit vice president Urikhimbam Ramesh in Sekmaijin Thongam.
It was attended by social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram; Alhaj Manoj, former Zilla Parishad Member; Angom Tiken, retired Principal of Phoubakchao Awang Junior High School and Urikhimbam Ramesh as presidium members.
The celebration began.with a welcome address delivered by NPYF Manipur president N Bidyarani.
Felicitation of labourers and construction workers from Mayang Imphal AC was the main highlight of the event.
Meanwhile, to address the healthcare needs of labourers working at NSU site Koutruk and villagers of the area, 158 Battalion CRPF organised a Free Medical Camp at NSU Campus Koutruk on the occasion of Labour Day.
During the camp; Dr Karthika Balan, Medical Officer, 158 Bn CRPF and her team conducted health checkups of the labourers of NSU site and villagers of Koutruk.
Those in need were also provided with free medications.
PK Singh, 2-I/C(Comdt-AOL) and Santosh Kumar Pal, 2-IC(Ops) were also present at the camp.
At the event, PK Singh expressed that CRPF is always available to help the people living in the area of their deployment and ensure a healthy relation of confidence and sense of security.
The locals and labourers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to CRPF for organising the free medical camp.
