Tamenglong DA organises Battle of Brains 2.0 Debate Championship

The second edition of the Battle of Brains, the Tamenglong Schools Debating Championship, unfolded at the Centennial Hall of Town Baptist Church today.
Organized by the District Administration of Tamenglong under the aegis of the Tamenglong Schools Debating Championship Committee, the event saw a remarkable turnout of students, educators and dignitaries, all gathered to celebrate the art of debate.
The championship was graced by several prominent figures, including Deputy Commissioner Dr L Angshim Dangshawa, IAS; ADC Tamenglong CEO Kachamthai F Gangmei, MCS; SDO Tamenglong D Meidinbui, MCS; Tousem SDO Paul Nangsha, MCS; Tamenglong SP Lanmiyo Luikham, MPS; 5th Manipur Rifles Deputy Commandant Col Letlen Sekho.
The event also welcomed ZEO N Abonpou Christopher, MES; Town Churches Union president Reverend Guigongdai Pamei; former ADC member Ramning Pame; Rongmei Naga Council Manipur president Savio Gangmei and various civil and religious leaders, alongside a vibrant audience of school students.
The theme for this year's championship, articulated by ADM Chunlenmang Kipgen, MCS, was "The future prospect of Tamenglong depends mainly on its leaders, not the people".
In his opening remarks, Chunlenmang Kipgen emphasized the importance of engaging more students in future debates, highlighting that public speaking is a vital skill for young leaders.
"Debate is one of the best tools in public speaking," he asserted, urging schools to encourage participation in such events.
The Championship featured three intense debate sessions, with 18 students representing various schools from Tamei, Tousem and Tamenglong Sub-Divisions.
The panel of judges included Dr Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Principal of Tamenglong College; Dr Maliangjinliu Panmei, HOD of the History Department, Tamenglong College and Gaichangsui Gangmei, a Bible translator from RBCC (BSI) .
In a show of commendable talent and eloquence, Namding Kamei of Trinity Public School emerged victorious, debating in favor of the motion.
Ngamjengluibou Pamai from Langmei Higher Secondary School, Tamei secured the second position for his argument against the motion, while Ramkhuanlung Kamei of Eklavya Model Residential School, Tamenglong claimed third place, also debating for the motion.
The champions were rewarded for their efforts, with Namding Kamei receiving a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a medal and a certificate.
Ngamjengluibou Pamai took home Rs 30,000 for his second-place finish, while Ramkhuanlung Kamei was awarded Rs 20,000 for securing third place.
Meanwhile, popular singers Apiliu Panmei and Eleibe Riamei captivated the crowd with their dynamic energy and melodies.
On the occasion, Daichui Gangmei, president of the Rongmei Naga Students Organization Manipur, expressed his gratitude to DC Dr Angshim for facilitating such an enriching event.
Presenting the closing remarks, Dr Angshim Dangshawa praised the participants, stating that students are the future decision-makers of the region.
He assured attendees that next year's event would be even more structured, aiming to refine the art of debating among the students.
The event culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, acknowledging the contributions of everyone involved in making the championship a resounding success.
