The Zomi Council Jiri-Vangai Range has alleged that village chiefs in collusion with secretaries had been adopting partisan policy in the issuance of job card under the NREGS programme in Vangai Range areas of churachandpur district.
President of the Council Hena Vaiphei confided to this correspondent on the misuse of power by the village chief and secretaries while distributing the job cards and called upon authority concerned to take appropriate measures so that the noble scheme justify its purpose.
The president also highlighted that Government schools in Vangai Range are in dilapidated condition due to lack of attention by the State authorities for the past two decades.
While appealing to the district administration to look into the matter with all seriousness in order to prevent the Council resort to agitation to highlight the case.
A meeting convened by the Council at Buangmun village of churachandpur on March 25 which was attended by intellectuals, social leaders and student activists had adopted resolution to apprise authorities on the said matters for appropriate action failing which the Council would be constraint to launch the agitation, added Hena Vaiphei.
