3rd NE India Film Fest 2026 concludes

The 3rd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2026 which kicked off at TanthaPolis Cinema in Lamphel yesterday, has concluded.
The Best Feature Film was presented to 'Collage', produced by Sumitra Hazarika and directed by Amar Deep Gogoi, while the Best NonFeature Film was awarded to "Toy Gun", produced by Omeshwori and directed by Thingnam Parshuram.
The award for Best Director was conferred to Monjul Baruah for his works in "Romantic Affairs"; Best cinematographer to Pradip Daimary for 'Ha Lyngkha Bneng'; Best Editor to Sanjib Gogoi for "Noi Kotha"; Best Sound Designer to Debajit Gayan for 'Kangbo Aloti'; Best Screenwriter to Doren Naorem for "The Check Post"; the Jury Special Award to "Phouoibee", produced by Suraj Khongbantabam and directed by Rakesh Moirangthem.
"Laininghal Naoria Phullo", produced by Sanatombi Heigrujam and directed by Rajen Leishangthem earned Special Mentions.
The closing ceremony today featured a Masterclass session conducted by Alexander Leo Pou.
Laimayum Suijakanta, Festival Director; Y Nilachandra Singh, chairman, organising committee; Tongbram Ramesh Singh, Additional Director, DIPR and members of the film fraternity attended the festival.
The film festival was jointly organised by THOUNA, the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur and the All Manipur Film Producers Association, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
At the closing ceremony, Hungyo Worshang, Secretary, Information and Public Relations (IPR), noted that the State has potential but currently lacks adequate funding for film awards and other recognition platforms.
Efforts will be made to secure adequate funds for such initiatives in the future, Worshang said.
Film festivals provide opportunities for exposure to the diverse cultures and heritage of the Northeastern States, he said.
A total of 9 films were screened during the festival.
