Awareness programme organised

A 1-day awareness programme on "Legal Rights of Women" was successfully conducted today at the Multipurpose Hall of Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College, Khurai.
The programme was organised by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with Women's Cell, Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College.
The programme was graced by dignitaries, including Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson, MSCW; Dr K Jabosakhi, Principal, Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College; Dr H Anita, Vice Principal, Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College; Dr S Neelima, convenor, Women's Cell, Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College; MSCW's Members Lourembam Dayabati Devi, T Chuongsin Koireng, Sk Sophia Moyon and W Phajatombi Devi.
The event commenced with a welcome address by W Phajatombi Devi followed by a keynote address by Lourembam Dayabati.
Speaking on the occasion, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang said that the programme was organised to spread awareness about the legal rights of women and available justice delivery systems.
She asserted that awareness of legal rights for women is crucial for their empowerment, and it covers a wide range of rights including protection from domestic violence and sexual harassment, equality in the workplace, and the right to own property.
"Legal protections and initiatives exist to ensure these rights are upheld, such as the Dowry Prohibition Act, the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, and provisions for equal pay, as well as access to free legal aid services", she added.
In the technical session, Aribam Noutuneshwari, retired District & Session Judge, gave a talk on the topic, "Legal Rights of Women" .
