Abduction attempt by armed miscreants foiled, five arrested

Kakching, July 14 2024: A combined team of Kakching district police and commandos foiled an abduction bid by armed miscreants of an unlawful organisation and arrested five persons in this connection from Kakching Khunou Thingam Ningthou Leikai today.

The miscreants reportedly attempted to abduct an unknown person from Kakching Khunou Thingam Ningthou Leikai with the intent of extorting money.

According to reliable input from 33 Assam Rifles, the arrested individuals have been identified as Soibam Lanchanba Meitei (25), s/o S Darendrajit Singh of Ningombam Awang Leikai, Singjamei; Soibam Manoj Singh (27), s/o S Narakeshwor Singh of Ningombam Awang Leikai, Singjamei; Heisnam Dipak Meitei (39), s/o H Tomba Singh of Thanga Heisnam Leikai, A/P Phubala, Moirang; Nameirakpam Nelson Singh (20), s/o N Dara Singh of Haraorou Sabal Leikai, Sagolmang and Nongthombam Leishemba (23), s/o N Hemanta Singh of Kangla Sagonsang Awang Leikai, Lamlong.

The combined team seized one revolver marked as SA CAL 7.65mm along with magazine loaded with four live rounds, one revolver marked Colt Super .38 Autos along with 5 live rounds, one Redmi K20 mobile, one Redmi A1 mobile, one Redmi mobile, three camouflage outfits and a Bolero without number plate from the possession of the five offenders.

A case has been registered at Waikhong police station for further investigation.
