TMNL imposes ban on 'Mauli' snack after students fall ill in Ukhrul

The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) - Tangkhul Youth Council - has imposed an immediate ban on the sale of the maize-based snack "Mauli" across the Tangkhul region after several students reportedly fell ill upon consuming it in Ukhrul town.
Reportedly, over 30 students from KTL Excel Higher Secondary School complained of vomiting and uneasiness shortly after eating the snack purchased from a nearby shop.
The affected students were admitted to the hospital and have since recovered.
The snack, identified as Mauli, listed its ingredients as maize breed, salt, and spices, was manufactured by Global Trade Link Pvt.
Ltd, Brahmaputra Industrial Park, Guwahati, with FSSAI number 103240200002070 .
Following the incident, a local shop owner, Donald Kashung, lodged a complaint at the Ukhrul Police Station against the manufacturer and distributor for further investigation into the contamination.
In response, TMNL issued a public directive banning the sale of Mauli snacks in the Tangkhul area until further notice.
The council warned that failure to comply would result in penalties and fines under relevant regulations.
