Aid pours in for flood affected people

Many continue to extend humanitarian aid to the people affected by the devastating flood which left a trail of destruction in many districts of the State.
Today, the Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) and All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWOVA) distributed relief materials to the flood affected people of Majorkhul, Imphal.
At the event, AMWOVA president Y Kunjarani said that members of AMWOVA and PLMPAM have been visiting different relief camps and areas severely affected by the recent flood to provide essential food items and encourage the victims.
She assured that similar assistance will also be provided to the flood affected people taking shelter in Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel, City Convention and the Church in Nagaram.
She also expressed concern about the possible outbreak of water borne diseases in the aftermath of the flood and urged the State Government to take necessary precautionary measures in this regard.
Y Kunjarani further urged the Government to take steps to provide adequate relief materials to the flood affected people and prevent hike in prices of essential items.
Kabui Mother's Association president Atongpui Kamei conveyed her gratitude to AMWOVA and PLMPAM for their assistance in their time of need.
PLMPAM president Soraisham Memcha also took part in the visit.
Moreover, in continuation of their efforts to provide relief to families affected by the recent flood, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) distributed essential items to the people taking shelter at the relief camps set up in Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai Leitong Sanglen and Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai Community Hall today.
AMUCO also provided essential items to 6 flood affected households of Awang Leikinthabi, Santipur.
A release issued by Heisnam Phoren Mangang, secretary publicity, AMUCO informed that the relief materials were distributed successfully with the assistance of Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association and Santipur Sporting Club, Santipur.

Meanwhile, Meitei Eikhoi Punsinsi (MEIPUN), Whatsapp Group on Thursday handed over two bundles of CGI sheets and monetary aid of Rs 5000 to Hijam Ajem of Patsoi Part 4 .
MEIPUN also provided food items and clothes for the children of Hijam Ajem.
The assistance was provided in the wake of the damages caused by the widespread hailstorm which swept across the State on May 5, 2024 .
Members of MEIPUN including senior advisor Keke Wahengbam, Pangambam Rajendro, Somorjit, Bobocha, Sanjit Khoimu, Eteen Maibam, Leo Nameirakpam, Suresh Khangembam, Joymati Irom and Sangita Khoirom took part in the visit.
