AMVWA threatens

All Manipur VDF Welfare Association (AMVWA) has threatened to intensify their stir if the arrested VDF personnel are not released without any condition by 12 pm of
March 27 .
In a statement, the association also demanded handing over of 40 vehicles, which the police had picked up from THAU ground, to the respective owners within this deadline.
The statement said that after holding a meeting in the presence of the representatives of different civil society organisations at THAU ground, VDF personnel took out a peaceful rally from THAU ground towards Khoyathong yesterday.
However, police not only blocked the rallyists near ABC godown but also thrashed them severely, the statement said.
It further said that Langtingjen Vaiphei from Churachandpur, James from Lilong Chajing, Naobi and Ch Rishikanta from Moreh were seriously injured in the police action.
The statement further alleged that police commandos not only intentionally fired tear gas shells aimed at the heads of the rallyists but also fired several rounds of live bullets in the air.
The association also urged the civil society organisations and meira paibi bodies to extend support to their agitation.
