TDC seeks induction of idle TTs, hails Paswan

Imphal, September 22 2019: The Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has hailed Union CAF&PD Minister Ram Vilas Paswan for his announcement that the FCI office located at Old Assembly Complex would be upgraded to the level of a full fledged FCI regional office by January 2020 as a New Year gift to the people of Manipur.

Meanwhile, TDC has also demanded induction of LPG bullet TTs which have been left idle.

Speaking to media persons today, TDC president T Ranjit said that opening a full fledged FCI regional office at Imphal is a long pending demand of TDC.

Even though an FCI office was opened at Imphal, it was not a full fledged regional office.

As such, the Imphal office was functioning under the regional office opened in Nagaland, Ranjit said.

He then conveyed gratitude to Union CAF&PD Minister Ram Vilas Paswan for his announcement to upgrade the Imphal FCI office as a full fledged region- al office from January 2020.Ranjit also conveyed gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam as well as FCI officials.

Claiming that the TDC has been closely watching the situation arising out of the cease work strike being undertaken by LPG bulk transporters, Ranjit alleged that IOC officials violated tender rules in connivance with some transporters.

Even though a total of 230 LPG bullet TTs of 7 MT capacity should be inducted, only 170 bullet TTs were inducted thereby keeping the remaining TTs idle, Ranjit said.

Pointing out that the idle bullet TTs cannot be used for any other purpose, the TDC president maintained that IOC's position that they would not induct bullet TTs to the full strength of 230 is unacceptable.

Questioning as to why the IOC is opposed to the demand of inducting the remaining bullet TTs, Ranjit asked who would repay the loans taken for purchasing the TTs.

He then appealed to the IOC to induct up to 230 bullet TTs in consultation with the CAF&PD Minister.

He also demanded that bullet TTs of 7 MT capacity should be given preference when any more bullet TTs are inducted.

He warned that they would take the matter to Court if the remaining TTs are not inducted soon.
