Imphal, September 21 2026: The Court of Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East has rejected the bail application of a 27-year-old man arrested in connection with a human trafficking case.

The man, arrested from Delhi on September 16, has been identified as Ningombam Ronaldo.

He is accused of trafficking young women and girls from Manipur to the National capital on the pretext of providing jobs.

He was produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal East after the completion of a 4-day police custody period.

Ningombam Ronaldo was staying at a rented house located at Ghitorni, New Delhi, and was arrested on September 16 in connection with a human trafficking case.

Notably, the police had recently busted a human trafficking racket and arrested four individuals.

The four identified as Chandam Tababi alias Taniya, Khumanthem Nanao, Gaitri and Bony were recently produced before the Court and remanded to judicial custody till October 3 .

Ningombam Ronaldo is the fifth accused police have arrested in the case.

After being arrested in Delhi, Ningombam Ronaldo was brought to Imphal on September 17 afternoon after taking transit remand from Duty Magistrate Patiala House, New Delhi.

In the Court today, the State prosecutor sought the Court to send the accused to judicial custody while the defense counsel submitted a bail application.

The prosecutor submitted that during interrogation Ronaldo has admitted to committing offences and charges levelled against him.

He lured young girls and received money for transporting/trafficking them, said the prosecutor.

On the pretext of providing jobs as receptionists at hotels or as beauticians at parlours, the accused lured and trapped young girls.

For transporting girls, he receives Rs 20,000 from another suspect who is absconding, said the prosecutor.

Stating that the investigation is in full swing and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding suspect and other associates, the prosecutor urged the Court to send the accused to judicial custody.

The Court, after hearing the submissions of the prosecutor and the defense counsel, rejected the bail application and sent the alleged accused to judicial custody till October 5 for smooth investigation of the case.
