Laininghan Phulo remembered

A seminar on 'Laininghan Phulo gi Khorirolna Khunai da Piriba Khudol1 (the contributions of Laininghan Phulo's literary works towards the society) was held at Manipur Press Club today.
The seminar was held in commemoration of the 134th birth anniversary celebration of Laininghan Phulo organised by the Laininghan Naoria Phulo (Phundrei) Memorial Charitable Trust (Laininghan Trust).
Presenting the keynote address, president of Laininghan Trust, N Chaoba hailed Laininghan Phulo for his earnest efforts for the upliftment of Meetei society and for the protection of its indigenous culture and tradition.
He further expressed the desire for designating a special place for Laininghan Phulo in Manipur University so that the upcoming generation can research on his valuable literary works.
He also assured to extend best possible support to the aspiring researcher who wishes to study the literary works of Laininghan Phulo.
Chaoba also called for collective efforts to build a memorial park in the honour of Laininghan Phulo at a suitable place.
The seminar was divided into two sessions where different resource persons spoke on different topics.
The first session was moderated by Professor S Sanatombi, former Vice-Chancellor In-charge of Manipur University while Professor W Raghumani Singh, former Dean of Humanities, Assam University attended as the moderator of the second session.
The 134th birth anniversary celebration of Laininghan Phulo was also held at Nungsikol Park in Chana village of Lamlai Assembly Constituency.
The programme was jointly organised by Chana Lukhoi Art Centre and Chana Sanamahi Laining Lup.
Renowned writer Chana Lukhoi and president of Village Development Committee Chana, Tompapu graced the occasion as the presidium members.
As a part of the programme, Ema Leimarel Sidabi Esei Thougal Lup, Phubala presented musical performances.
