Imphal, Aug 17: The BJP State unit and some members are working hard to ease the restrictions imposed on its electioneering activities, said the State unit president Haobam Borbabu.

Speaking to reporters today, the former Speaker disclosed that the State unit has been talking with all concerned to lift the restrictions imposed against the party by one UG group so as to enable the party to contest the forthcoming elections freely.

He, however, added that the desired results of the talk could not be achieved as yet.

Informing that there has been no intimation of any restriction against the organisational election of the State unit slated to be held by October 31, he conveyed optimism of a positive result out of the current talk in view of the recent developments.

Informing that he has been invited to a meeting of the BJP National Executive at Uttaranchal from September 7 to 9, Dr Borbabu disclosed that the meeting would discuss the forthcoming elections in four States including Manipur besides making a thorough study of India's foreign policy.

Borbabu further informed that the BJP State unit has been making all preparations to give a stiff challenge to the ruling Congress party, and added that the party has been working to form a pre-poll or post poll political alliance so as to install a BJP led or BJP included coalition Government.

He also mentioned of BJP central high command's instructions to give priority to regional parties in case of any political alliance.

Acknowledging that Haobam Bhuban had submitted his resignation letter from BJP State unit, Borbabu clarified that there was no split in the BJP State unit adding that a group led by Bhuban had only resigned from BJP.

He mentioned that no written resignation letters have been received so far from the followers of Bhuban.

Borbabu further clarified that RK Dorendra had not resigned from BJP State unit and is still a leader of the BJP Legislature wing.

He exuded confidence that the party would be able to serve the public in a more meaningful way once the issue within the State unit is solved for which the central leaders would take up necessary actions soon.
