Imphal, November 07 2026: A team of Special Commando Unit of the State Police seized 356 grams of heroin powder from inside a Hyundai 120 car at Langthabal Kunja Awang leikai along National Highway-102 today.

The four wheeler was allegedly abandoned by its driver after a brief chase by the commandos, said the police in a statement.

During frisking and checking near ILand Hospital, the driver ignored the team's signal to stop the vehicle and fled towards Canchipur.

Following a brief chase, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot, said the police.

A search of the vehicle was then conducted in presence of Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Singjamei, in which 356 grams of heroin powder was found concealed inside the gearbox of the vehicle.

Preliminary chemical tests conducted by a mobile forensic unit indicated the presence of heroin.

The seized contraband and the vehicle have been handed over to the Singjamei police station for further legal actions, said the police.
