One 'abducted', orgns serve ultimatum for release

Several organisations have resolved to launch an intense agitation if one Sn Stevenson Lamkang of Charangching Khunkha Village, Chandel who they alleged was abducted from a place in between Tengnoupal and Saivom Village by a group of unknown gunmen in camouflage on June 4 is not released within 24 hours.
The apex body of Lamkang viz Lamkang Naga Kver Kunpun (LNKK), Lamkang Naga Snu Lop (LNSL) and Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK), in a joint statement, said that Sn Stevenson Lamkang (26), s/o Sn Bungdon Lamkang was seen leaving Moreh Bazar at around 2 pm of June 4 driving an Eeco Van bearing a Manipur registration number.
Claiming that his vehicle was detained for checking by a group of security personnel in camouflage near the under construction bridge of Khongkhang Village at around 4 pm of the same day, the three organisations alleged that the vehicle was seen heading towards Tengnoupal Headquarters with one armed security personnel arms on board.
As per the CCTV footage of AR checkpoint at Sita Lamkhai, the Eeco Van along with the driver and one security personnel on board was seen crossing the checkpoint without any entry, it claimed and alleged that the Eeco Van was accompanied by two other vehicles who made themselves known as CRPF personnel to the Assam Rifles personnel posted at the checkpoint.
Stating that the Eeco Van was found abandoned near Saivom Village and the driver Stevenson Lamkang could not be traced till now, the statement added that the phone of Stevenson Lamkang has also been turned off.
Saying that an FIR has been filed at Tengnoupal Police Station on the morning of June 5, the three organisations urged the State Government and the authority concerned to release Stevenson Lamkang within the next 24 hrs.
Intense agitation or necessary actions will be taken up if the demand is ignored, it cautioned.
The Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO), on the other hand, said that the whereabouts of Stevenson Lamkang is still not known.
CNPO, in a statement, also claimed that there is no update from the IO of Tengnoupal police station pertaining to the case.
Condemning the incident, the Naga organisation urged the authority concerned to release Stevenson Lamkang to release him safe and sound and without any condition at the earliest.
CNPO will take up its own course of action if the person is not released, it cautioned.
