Imphal, November 05 2015:
Mapi Council Chief Advisor Th Manihar on Thursday said that Manipur people should stand united against any intention to disintegrate the State.
He said this at a function organised by Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council and Andro Torongthel Meira Paibi to discuss "peaceful coexistence among the ethnic groups" at Andro Torongthel Community Hall.
Speaking at the programme as resource person, Th Manihar said that people need to discuss the more than 2000 years old history of Manipur.
Since time immemorial, there has been inter-marriage between hills and valley communities.
Sangkhu, the wife of Khana Chaoba Wangburel Ibudhou of Sugnu was an Anal tribe and Anal communities have been participating in the Lai Haraoba of Wangbren, said Manihar.
Kabui communities were also a part of Manipur kingdom.
Whenever a Meetei king moved and built his palace, Kabuis always assisted the king.
People still remember Kabui Salang Maiba when the history of Moirang Parba or the story of Khamba-Thoibi comes.
Today's generation should not forget it.
"Tangkhuls are necessary during the Meetei lai haraoba occasion.
Kabui's "Lurum Phi" are still used during Meetei marriage ceremony which shows that we all are brothers" said Manihar.
