The influence of cable television has gripped this tiny township with its Idol mantra as auditions and exhibitions, one after another queue the channels of the four cable operators here.
One Idol has been chosen under the tag 'Sinlung Star' at the concluding months of last year, while an Inter-tribe Super Idol contest has entered a decisive stage with just 7 of the 122 competitors enduring in all the four tests till date.
The next round of elimination or audition will be held on February 2 next.
A cash reward of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 were promised for top 3 winners of the contest.
And the top-10 competitors will receive an incentive of Rs.5000 each.

Come February 2, Hornbill Cable Network � a premier cable operator will host another Idol hunt for the age group of 7 to 12 under the tag 'Little Star.' Morethan 120 children have enrolled for the contest that carries a reward in cash and contract with the cable network.
Mautaam conference reschedules: The propose Leaders' Conference on Combating Famine which is scheduled to be held at Mualnuam village in Thanlon sub-division on the 28 and 29 of January has been cancelled due to unmotorable road condition says a release of the organising committee.

Some of the leaders, some as far as from New Delhi have reached here a day in advance to partake on the Mautaam Conference but the downpour for a couple of days has altered the plan as it has wrecked the road.
As the organising committee plans for engaging a couple of JCBs and a truck to assist the leaders reached its conference venue proved futile, it has no other option but to reschedule the date with a hope that road conditions then will improved, comes rain or not.
