Woman 'gang raped' by 4

In a horrific incident, a 26 year old married woman was allegedly gang raped by four individuals in the evening of March 7 in Imphal West district.
According to a reliable source, all the four accused were arrested by a team of Women PS, Imphal West, and later remanded into 10 days police custody (till March 18) by the duty Magistrate, Imphal West on March 9 .
The source narrated that the victim lodged a written complaint before Women PS Imphal West claiming that in the evening of March 7, she was allegedly gang raped by four individuals in a rented room at Uripok, belonging to one of the men identified as Yengkhokpam Hemchandra s/o Y Ibocha Singh of Charangpat Maning Leikai.
The victim explained that she became acquainted with Hemchandra, who works as a pharmacy hawker/ runner in RIMS, while she was staying in the hospital for treatment of one of her family members.
She claimed that on March 7, at around 3.30 pm, she went along with Hemchandra to his rented house located near RIMS and there, she came across three other individuals drinking liquor inside the room.
She alleged that upon entering the room, she was gang raped by the four men, the source explained, adding that following her complaint, a case was registered and police arrested Yengkokpam Hemachandra and the three other individuals, Karnajeet Konsam (30) s/o Konsam Joykumar of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai, Ningombam Johnson Singh (24) s/o N Iboyaima of Sagolband Mutum Leirak and Phijam Vibigiri s/o Tomba of Kairembikhok Awang Leikai (Wangjing) on March 8 .
All of them work as hawkers/runners in RIMS, the source informed, adding that they were produced before the duty Magistrate Imphal West the next day (March 9) and eventually remanded into police custody remand till March 18 .
