Oriental College hosts faculty & student development programmes

As part of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and capacity building, Oriental College (Autonomous), Imphal successfully organised two high-impact programmes in collaboration with ICFAI Business School, Kolkata, on July 22 and 23, 2025.As per a release issued by Dr S Ranjit Singh, Principal, Oriental College, these initiatives were aimed at equipping both faculty members and students with contemporary pedagogical strategies and career readiness skills.
On July 22, the Faculty Knowledge Sharing Programme was conducted under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College at the Oriental College Conference Hall on the theme, "How to Improve Classroom Teaching Using Recent Technologies" .
The session was led by Prof Shubhanan Dey, Associate Dean, IBACO, IBS Kolkata, who shared valuable insights into the integration of emerging digital tools in higher education.
Faculty members from various departments participated enthusiastically, engaging in productive dialogue on how to enhance content delivery, learner engagement, assessment strategies, and flipped learning models.
K Biplob Singha, Coordinator of IQAC, hosted the session and stressed on the importance of imbibing cutting edge soft and hard skills in today's highly competitive job market.
He further highlighted the relevance of such knowledge-sharing platforms in fostering academic innovation and quality enhancement.
On July 23, the Student Development Programme was held at the same venue.
Organised by the Career Counselling, Guidance, and Placement Cell, the programme focused on "21st Century Skills for Employability".
Once again, Prof Shubhanan Dey took centre stage and addressed a packed hall of undergraduate students from Arts and Science streams.
The session covered crucial themes such as communication skills, emotional intelligence, digital literacy, and adaptability- essential competencies required to thrive in today's dynamic job market.
The initiative was hosted by K Biplob Singha, who underscored the importance of exposing students to external experts and career mentors to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.
Both events received overwhelming response and were widely appreciated for their relevance, organisation, and the opportunity they provided for holistic growth of faculty and students alike.
