Imphal, January 23 2026:
The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and the All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) have announced that they will launch a campaign to prevent drug abuse among students in private schools.
Speaking to the media at Sega Road Top Leirak today, MSF president Hijam Roshan explained that the initiative will target students from Class VIII to XII in private schools.
As part of the campaign, students, their parents, and school authorities will be required to sign an affidavit at the time of admission, pledging to take a stand against drug use, he added.
He praised private schools for endorsing the campaign, calling it a commendable step that will go a long way in combating drug abuse and addiction.
Saying that they had submitted a memorandum to the Government, urging them to support the initiative, he said that there, however, has been no response so far.
It appears the Government is not prioritizing the issue, he said expressing his disappointment.
AMRPSWA president Joy Khuman stated that they are spearheading the initiative to combat the growing number of drug abuse cases among students and to make educational institutions drug-free zones.
He sought support from the masses and the stakeholders concerned in the initiative.
