WHO India's NCD team visits public health facilities in Manipur

Imphal, June 17 2024:
In line with the ambitious 75 by 25 Roadmap, which aims to reduce the burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) by 25% by 2025, a dedicated team from NCD division of World Health Organisation (WHO) India has embarked on a three days visit to public health facilities in Manipur on Monday.
The visit underscores WHO's objective to work closely with the State Health Department and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) in addressing the challenges posed by NCDs.
Through this collaboration, WHO aims to build a healthier future for the people of Manipur, leveraging the State's pioneering efforts to create a robust framework for NCD prevention and control.
To further this collaboration, Dr Amol Wankhede, National Program Officer (NPO), NCD, WHO will visit different public health facilities in the State from June 17 to 19, 2024 .
During this visit, Dr Yutaro Setayo, Team Lead for NCD and Comorbidities at the WHO India Country Office, will offer guidance and support.
Dr Valentina Ningombam, the WHO NCD Consultant for Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, will also assist the mission by providing technical expertise to the State NCD Cell and Districts, enhancing primary healthcare services related to NCDs, and contributing to the achievement of the 75 by 25 targets.
Dr Y Premchandra Singh, State Nodal Officer, NCD Manipur expressed happiness and hope that with this support and collaboration of WHO, Manipur can achieve the goal of reducing the NCD burden in the State.
Notably, Manipur stands as a promising example in the pursuit of innovative and effective strategies for the National Program for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NPNCD).
With a strong commitment to excellence, Manipur is poised to pioneer these initiatives, setting a benchmark for others to follow.
