Jiribam, April 06 2025: Suspected Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) cadres pushed two vehicles (Tata Yodha) carrying betel leaves into a gorge near Khonglong Kabui Khul, along the Imphal-Jiribam road (National Highway 37), today.

The incident occurred some distance away from Kotlien which is near Keithelmanbi today at around 3 am.

The vehicles, both having Assam registration numbers, were heading for Imphal.

The vehicles were reportedly pushed into the gorge at gunpoint after the drivers were told to exit.

It is also reported that the armed people looted three mobile phones from the drivers.

Meanwhile, All Jiribam Betelnut & Leaf Growers and Marketing Forum has condemned the incident and called on the responsible group to clarify.

The Forum said that targeting drivers and disrupting transportation amid the crisis in Manipur is unacceptable.
