Leimakon observes 35th foundation day

Imphal, September 30 2025: Leimakon (Leimarol Lamjingkon) observed its 35th foundation day at Achanbigei Mayai Leikai, Akham Leirak Community Hall today.

The ceremony was attended by All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj president Thokchom Ongbi Ramani; All Manipur Tami Chingmi Apunba Meira Paibi Lup president Yambem Momon Leima; Kontha Khabam Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj president Waikhom Ongbi Gambhim Leima; Achanbigei Apunba Meira Paibi secretary Meitankeishangbam Tamurei and Leimakon president MC Rita.

Addressing the gathering, Ayekpam Chanu Nganthoibi, general secretary, Leimakon spoke about the pressing need for upliftment of women stating that equality between the sexes is necessary for the development of a society.

She also stressed on the general abandoning of weaving, handloom and other small businesses by womenfolk as a way to earn a living and its negative impact on the State's economy.

Stating that women of Manipur need to be well-versed in the culture and traditions to become capable women, she highlighted that Leimakon has worked consistently to fill such gaps.

In light of certain elements driving wedges between the hill and valley people and the current state of Manipur, she added that Leimakon is working towards creating a better society by leading the women down the right path.

It is worth noting that Leimakon was established in 1990 at Haobam Maram Ngangom Leikai, Imphal.
