Imphal, September 21 2025:
A huge uproar erupted at RIMS today following two consecutive deaths at the hospital which led to an enraged mob assaulting a doctor and vandalising some hospital properties.
RIMS witnessed a ruckus following the controversial death of a man last night.
Hours later, a young woman too died in child delivery under controversial circumstances leading to huge uproar and violent reactions.
Nongthombam ningol Chingsubam ongbi Manju (35) w/o Chingsubam Niran of Lilong Chajing was brought to RIMS on September 16 for child delivery.
Manju underwent a surgical operation and delivered a baby girl on September 20 .
After the operation, she was brought to the ward.

However, at around 5.30 pm, she started bleeding profusely.
The doctor said that another operation must be performed.
As such, Manju underwent another operation and her womb was also removed, according to her family members.
After the second operation, the young woman was kept in the ICU and blood was transfused to her.
But at around 2.30 am today, it was said that Manju had expired.
On learning about the death of Manju, a large number of people from Manju's locality came to RIMS .
They demanded the Medical Superintendent of RIMS and the attending doctor to tender an apology.
This led to a brief altercation between the patient party and the RIMS authority.
As the tense situation persisted for a long time, the aggrieved patient party assaulted one doctor and the doctor sustained grievous injuries.
He was taken to ICU for treatment.
The mob also vandalised some properties of the hospital including the Medical Superintendent's room.
The situation was later brought under control following the arrival of a strong police force.
One from the patient party said that there was no mob action immediately after Manju's death.
He said that they tried to talk with the MS and the attending doctor, and they talked with the MS.The patient party insisted that a resolution be adopted during their talk with the MS but the MS maintained that he could not adopt any resolution without the Director's approval.
Moreover, the MS stopped the attending doctor from tendering an apology, said the patient party's man.
Even as the patient party proposed drafting a letter of agreement, the RIMS authority took a long time and delayed the proposal.
This enraged the aggrieved patient party and it led to the mob action, he said.
He said that Manju underwent regular medical check-ups for the last nine months after she became pregnant.
If there were complications or any problem in the womb, it should have been known and told much earlier.
While the patient party was mourning the death of Manju, one doctor said that she was brought at the last moment and all the uproar was aimed at securing compensation.
Infuriated by these insulting words, the patient party demanded the RIMS authority to bring out the particular doctor.
Until and unless the particular doctor tenders a public apology, the dead body of Manju will not be claimed, he said.
On the other hand, the IAC formed in connection with the controversial death of Yambem Sanjoy tried to storm RIMS this afternoon demanding punitive action against the 'guilty' doctor.
Notably, Yambem Sanjoy of Bamon Kampu who was brought to RIMS with complaints of pain in the shoulder died yesterday at the hospital.
But timely intervention by the Additional SP (L/O) prevented the situation from going out of hand.
The protesters shouted slogans demanding punishment for erring doctors and replacement of the RIMS Director which has become a house of killing.
Some days ago, a woman died at RIMS while undergoing surgical operation for a fractured leg.
