CM, ruling MLAs meet Governor, submit wishlist

Accompanied by as many as 28 ruling MLAs, Chief Minister N Biren went to the Raj Bhavan today and submitted a memorandum to Governor LP Acharya for forwarding it to the Government of India.
The memorandum contained a wishlist of the State Government which they want the Central Government to fulfil at the earliest.
The memorandum demanded reinstatement of the Chief Minister as the Chairman of the Unified Command, repatriation of illegal immigrants, abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups, implementation of NRC in Manipur with 1961 as base year, construction of border fence along Manipur-Myanmar border, restoration of peace in Manipur by way of working out a solution to the 16 months old Manipur crisis and ensuring smooth movement of vehicles without any disturbances on NH-2 and NH-37 .

The memorandum categorically stated that the demand for Separate Administration is unacceptable and the integrity of Manipur should be protected at all costs.
Before heading to the Raj Bhavan, Ministers and MLAs of the ruling parties held a meeting at the Chief Minister's Secretariat at around 10 am today.
A memorandum containing a wishlist of the State Government in order to bring an end to the protracted crisis was drafted at the meeting and all the MLAs and Ministers present at the meeting signed it.
Led by the Chief Minister, the Ministers and MLAs went to the Raj Bhavan at 11 am.
At the Raj Bhavan, N Biren submitted the memorandum to Governor LP Acharya with a request to forward it to the Government of India.
They also held a meeting with the Governor for around one hour on the current situation of Manipur as well as several measures which the State Government wants the Govt of India to take up immediately.
The Chief Minister also sought the Governor's intervention so that the Central Government pays due attention to the memorandum and translate it into action at the earliest.
LP Acharya assured that he would forward the memorandum to the Central Government and seek the Centre's attention to the critical situation in Manipur.
The Ministers and the MLAs who were present at the meeting with the Governor pointed out that the Manipur crisis was engineered by Kuki militants in collusion with illegal armed immigrants with the objective of disintegrating Manipur and also India.
They expressed keen desire for the Central Government to tackle the issue with all seriousness without any further delay.
With Kuki militants now using highly sophisticated and powerful long range weaponised drones, the Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister's bungalow and Khwairam-band Keithel are no longer safe, they told the Governor.
Kukis can now attack any place at any time using weaponised drones or long range rockets or both, they said before asserting that the Centre ought to give undivided attention to the growing threat and take up necessary counter measures immediately, the MLAs/Ministers stated.
Altogether 28 ruling MLAs and Ministers including the Chief Minister participated in another meeting held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat at 5 pm on Saturday.
The meeting with the Governor today was participated by 29 ruling MLAs and Ministers including the Chief Minister.
After coming out from the Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister and the MLAs/Ministers held another round of meeting at the Chief Minister's Secretariat for around one hour.
Notably, some MLAs and Ministers who took part in yesterday's meeting were not present today while some other Ministers/MLAs who were absent yesterday were present today.
Apart from Chief Minister N Biren and Manipur Legislative Assembly Spea-ker Th Satyabrata, Ministers including Govindas Kon-thoujam, Awangbow New- mai, Dr Sapam Ranjan, L Susindro, H Dingo, Th Basantakumar and Khashim Vashum took part in the meeting.
MLA Kh Ibomcha, RK Imo, Thangjam Arunkumar, Sapam Kunjekeswor (Keba), Karam Shyam, S Kebi, Kongkham Robindro, Kh Loken, I Nalini, Th Shanti, S Premchandra, Dr Usham Deben, J Kumo Sha, M Rameshwar, SS Olish, Leishiyo Keishing, Ram Muivah, Losii Dikho, Janghemlung Panmei and Dinganglung Gangmei were present.
Notably, BJP has 37 MLAs and 17 of them including the Chief Minister attended the meeting with the Governor while 20 BJP MLAs were absent.
