Imphal, November 06 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has felicitated Imphal West and Pherzawl districts for achieving 'Surakshit' (safe) status under the Mobilization of AIDS Suraksha (MAS) Initiative of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) .

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand today graced the 'Sammaan Samaaroh' organised by the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) at the Cabinet Hall, Chief Minister's Office, Mantripukhri.

The Chief Minister felicitated Imphal West and Pherzawl districts for achieving 'Surakshit' status in October 2026 under the Mobilization for AIDS Suraksha (MAS) initiative of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) .

Addressing the gathering, Khemchand congratulated the two districts-- Imphal West and Pherzawl, on attaining 'Surakshit' status and urged officials of the Health Department to make concerted efforts towards achieving the same status in the remaining districts of the State.

Commissioner (Health and Family Welfare) and president, Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), Sumant Singh stated that, for the first time in the history of the MACS, 'Surakshit' (safe) status has been achieved in certain districts of the State.

This achievement means that 95 per cent of the estimated number of people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in a district are aware of their HIV status; 95 per cent of those who know their status are receiving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART); and 95 per cent of those undergoing ART have achieved viral suppression.

This indicates that the virus is effectively controlled among those who have achieved viral suppression, Sumant Singh further elaborated.

The Chief Minister felicitated teams from Imphal West District and Pherzawl District Administration, Chief Medical Offices (CMOs), and the District Integrated Strategy of HIV .

During the programme, a presentation was made on the journey towards achieving the 'Surakshit' status under the 95-95-95 targets in Imphal West and Pherzawl districts.

The programme was attended by Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur; Project Director, MACS, Anna Arambam; Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh and Deputy Commissioner, Pherzawl, Anunay Anand via video conferencing, among others.
