BJP Central leaders, Chief Minister N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda may confer on the debacle suffered by the BJP and the NPF candidates in the 18th Lok Sabha elections in Manipur, sources said.
Notably, NPF is a partner of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and its candidate was supported by BJP in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
At first, Chief Minister N Biren politely declined the BJP Central leaders' invitation to the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he was ashamed to come to Delhi after the humiliating defeat of the BJP candidate and the NPF candidate supported by BJP.
But the BJP Central leaders, citing defeat of BJP candidates in many other States, insisted that he (Biren) should attend the swearing in ceremony.
The sources said that the Chief Minister and the BJP Manipur Pradesh president may deliberate on the protracted violent crisis be- sieging the State since May 3, 2023 and explore a solution with key leaders of the Central Government.
Ex-MP Dr RK Ranjan's assertion that Chief Minister N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda must step down from their respective posts on moral ground for the poll debacle suffered by BJP and its ally NPF in the recent Lok Sabha elections and the stir it created within the party may also be discussed with BJP Central leaders during their visit to Delhi, added the sources.
