Imphal, June 04: All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) has tightened its belt once again to fight against the reported decision of the Centre to Centre to extend the Nagaland ceasefire into Manipur.

Reacting to news report appeared in a section of the local dailies and national English daily 'The Hindu' on June 1 regarding a high-level meeting decision to extend the ongoing ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and government of India into the Naga inhabited areas of the state, the AMUCO has decided to bring the 1997 integrity movement back to life.

Talking to reporters during a press conference organized by the monitoring group of the organization which is behind the historic 1997 mass rally in Imphal participated by over half a million people, the AMUCO official strongly condemned the reported extension of ceasefire into Manipur.

Human rights activist, Khaidem Mani termed the decision as double standard policy of the government of India and dismissed the Indian government's notion that the extension of ceasefire will not affect the territorial integrity of the State as thoughtless and senseless.

He charged the government of India of not being democratic in its practice in its effort to appease the Naga underground group NSCN (IM).

The seasoned advocate questioned the motive behind the extension of ceasefire to all Naga-inhabited areas while pointing out the NSCN (IM) demand for a 'Greater Nagaland' or 'South Nagaland' comprising of all Naga inhabited areas of the Northeast.

Charging the BJP at the Centre of being anti-Manipuri, he said it was very unfortunate that the BJP is leading the government at the Centre.

AMUCO member and human rights activist RK Anand strongly condemned the government of India for not being transparent regarding the talks with the NSCN (IM) and warned that the situation has reached a critical stage.

Anand called upon the international community to join the struggle for the sake of the motherland.

He said the organization will fight to the finish and asked one and all to join the struggle.

Founder member of the organization Udoi said, as people of India do not want the country's balkanization, people of Manipur have similar sentiment and do not want it being broken into pieces.

He also warned the centre of a situation fiercer than Kashmir mushrooming up in the northeast in the future.
