Protests staged; MAMPIL demands clarification from Th Brinda

Bishnupur, December 17 2023: People of Thanga and Moirang assembly constituencies staged sit-in protests in various localities today vehemently decrying the false assertions made by former DSP Thounaojam Brinda in a recently viral phone conversation.

In Thanga AC, Chanura Leishem Lup Keirenphabi organised a sit-in protest at Keirenphabi; Moirang Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at Moirangkhunou Makha Leikai Khongnang Makhong; Moirangkhunou Khongnang Makhong Mayai Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Moirang Khunou Tera Makhong Bazar Meira Paibi Lup congregated at Moirangkhunou Bazar in protest and Hougrampat Meira Paibi Lup at Hougrampat.

At Moirang Assembly Constituency, Thoya Maning Leikai Meira Paibi Lup and Thoya Mamang Leikai Meira Paibi Lup staged a protest against Th Brinda's accusations against the Arambai Tenggol at Thoya while many others such as Kokilabon Apunba Nupi Lup, Sribon Leikai Women Development Organisation, Thana Leikai Apunba Nupi Lup, Moirang College Gate Apunba Nupi Lup, Phiwangbam Leikai Nupi Lup, Yumkhaibam Leikai Meira Paibi Lup, Phairembam, Mairembam, Philem Leikhrakpam Leikai Apunba Nupi Lup, Moirang Keithel Phambi Ima Lup and Moirang Bazar Meira Paibi Lup, Moirang Konjengbam Maning Leikai Nupi Lup, Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup, Womens' Development Organization Sendra Road, Sendra Road Mayai Nupi Lup and Ngangkhalawai Awang Leikai Meira Paibi Lup staged protests at Kokilabon, Sribon, Thana Leikai, Moirang College Gate, Phiwangbam Leikai, Yumkhaibam Leikai, Philem Mamang, Moirang Keithel, Konjengbam Leikai, Moirang Lamkhai, Sendra Road Community Hall, Sendra Road Mayai and Ngangkhalawai respectively.

In addition, residents in the surrounding area of Ibudhou Thangjing Laibung organised a sit-in protest in front of Ibudhou Thangjing Laikol while women associations of Khoyangbam and Moirangthem also staged similar protests at their localities.

Speaking in connection with the protests, MAMPIL president K Padamo condemned the allegations made by Th Brinda against the Arambai Tenggol and urged her to refrain from making such baseless allegations in the future.

The MAMPIL president went on to demand a clarification from Th Brinda at the earliest for hurting public sentiment and laying false allegations.
