Imphal, April 20 2024: As the state was submerged in the fever of the 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 on Friday, suspected Kuki militants tried to destroy a tower of electric transmission line that transmits electricity from Silchar to Yurembam.

Sources said that the suspected Kuki militants planted and detonated a bomb at the base of a 400 KV transmission line tower in Kotlien area under Keithelmanbi PS on Friday at around 3.30 pm.

Fortunately, the bomb did not do much damage except for some superficial damage.

As per statement issued by Power Grid Corporation, the transmission line is responsible for transmitting power line to Imphal.

Since there was no substantial damage, it will not affect the transmission of power to Imphal; the statement added.
