Imphal, February 10 2024:
Manipur State Committee/Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has called for a thorough discussion by putting an agenda to end the ethnic strife that broke out on May 3 last year in the upcoming state assembly session.
In a release, MSC/CPI said that the decision of the government to convene assembly session from February 28 is appreciated even though it is quite late.
However, it will bring bad consequences if the session is done simply for namesake like before, it cautioned, while stressing the need for thorough discussion to end the conflict and take a strong and bold decision.
The party has been demanding convening of an exclusive assembly session meant only for discussing the ethnic strife and ways to end the impasse.
As such, business committee of the assembly should take the matter seriously and make a special agenda regarding the conflict, it added.
In another release, MSC/CPI said that the party will support the nation-wide strike being called by Central Trade Unions and Samyukta Kisan Morcha on February 16 .
