Aid extended to relief camps, victims' families

On the occasion of 77th birthday of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) donated essential items to various relief camps on Saturday.
As per a release, a team led by MPCC president K Meghachandra visited relief camps set up at Leimaram High School, Leimaram Schedule Caste Girls' Hostel, Old Mini-Secretariat, Mukta High School, Thoya Kokilabon Primary School and Thanga Wangma High School in Bishnupur district.
Meanwhile, Committee for Peace and Social Harmony (CPSH), Kakching on Saturday extended monetary assistance to family members of Mayengbam Roshan (25), son of M Thoiba of Wangbal Lamboithong, Thoubal district and Meisnam Sanajaoba (22), son of M Shyamkanhai of Yairipok Kakmayai Mayai Leikai, who Were found killed on December 4 at Leithao village in Tengnoupal district.
A team led by CPSH convener Yengkhom Bhag-yachandra, its members and Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) members visited the houses of late M Roshan and M Sanajaoba and handed over Rs 5000 each along with edibles to the family members.
The Committee on Friday also visited the residences of three people who were also killed in the same incident, namely, Sougaijam Krish-nakanta of Kakching Turel Wanga Ningthou Pareng, Pheiroijam Malemnganba of Irengband and Laishram Sanathoi of Sekmaijin Khoidum Makha Leikai and provided monetary assistance.
Meanwhile, MANIDCO chairman and Mayang Imphal MLA K Robindro on Saturday distributed shoes, socks, inverter battery sets, LED reading lamps and edibles to 90 displaced students from Bishnupur district who were staying in the relief camp set up at Saiton but are presently studying at Lamjing Meira Maheikol, Saiton.
The distribution programme was also attended by Kumbi MLA S Premchandra, Lamjing Meira Maheikol founder principal Phanjoubam Ramesh and Saiton Gram Panchayat caretaker pradhan Mayengbam Ibomcha.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) spearheaded a winter clothing distribution initiative at Shyamasakhi relief camp, Moirangkhom, here on Saturday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that winter clothing worth approximately Rs 35,000 were distributed to the internally displaced people facing harsh winter months.
The items also included essential clothing for women, which were requested by female inmates during their interactions with riflewomen on Friday.
