Imphal, August 08 2023:
Stating that the silent attitude of the central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the prevailing issue in Manipur is akin to insulting all the communities of Manipur, Forum for Restoration of Peace (FRP) has pointed out the need for all the communities settling in Manipur to shed away all differences and unite and teach the central government a lesson.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, FRP convenor Ashang Kasar said that even after over three months have passed since the communal violence erupted in the state, the government has failed to put the situation under control which is very unfortunate.
The state government needs to make the people aware of the strategies taken up for restoring peace, if at all the state has taken up anything concrete.
He further said that since the attitude of the central government over the crisis in Manipur is doubtful, it is time for all communities in the state to shed all differences and desist from blaming one another and unite and teach the central government a lesson.
Ashang Kasar, while condemning the assault on Kom Union Manipur president by Kuki militants, said that it is natural for a community leader to meet leaders of any other community, be it Meetei or Kuki.
However, assaulting a leader of a community on the ground that he/she is meeting with other community leaders is not the right approach.
Such acts should be avoided at all cost.
The FRP convenor also said that the militants should stop causing fear psychosis among the public and avoid attacking and killing innocent people by barging into the houses at night.
Such acts are not human acts but animal acts.
We should also stop believing in rumours and acting accordingly to the rumours or else it could lead to a civil war in the state, he cautioned.
Ashang Kasar further appealed to all concerned to help in restoring peace in the state.
