Search ops continue, weapons recovered

Imphal, August 08 2023:
Combined teams of state and central forces carried out search operations in fringe and vulnerable areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts on Tuesday and recovered several firearms and rounds of ammunition.
According to a press note by the Police Control Room, after receiving reliable input at around 11.30 am Tuesday, combined teams of Patsoi Police, New Keithelmani Police, Imphal West District Commando and 33 Assam Rifles conducted search operations in Keithelmanbi and Aithu Kuki villages.
During the operation in Aithu village, five single Bore Rifles, four country-made improvised bomb launchers (modified GI pipe), 36 single bore rounds, one walkie-talkie with charger and eight mobile phones were sized.
However, there were no reports of any arrest made.
The seized weapons have been handed over to Keithelmanbi PS for further course of legal action.
Meanwhile, a total of 119 nakas/checkpoints were installed in different districts, both in the hill and valley areas and 879 people detained for curfew violations.
Movement of 212 vehicles on NH-37 and 121 vehicles on NH-2 was ensured with security measures taken up in vulnerable locations.
The Control Room reiterated its appeal to the public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos.
