State commemorates Vijay Diwas : Displaced Myanmarese should not build villages in Manipur: CM

Chief Minister N Biren has cate-gorically stated that Myanmar people who fled into Manipur after being displaced from their native country should not build villages or permanent settlements within the territory of Manipur.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a Vijay Diwas celebration held at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles banquet hall here today.
The number of Myanmar people who have intruded into Manipur at Kamjong has reached 5000 to 6000.The district administration has been capturing their biometrics.
Similar exercises must be carried out in Behiang and Sajik Tampak areas, he said.

The situation in Myanmar is still very tense.
Gven the widespread violence and the highly insecure situation in the neighbouring country, we cannot ask the Myanmar people not to cross into Manipur, he continued.
"We ought to help the fleeing Myanmarese people on humanitarian ground.
We are only asking them not to set up villages or settlements within the territory of Manipur", Chief Minister N Biren said.
Claiming that the State's situation has been improving considerably and most of the restrictions imposed on highways have been lifted while the State Government has initiated necessary measures for safe travel of public, Chief Minister N Biren has called upon all the citizens to work collectively so as to put Manipur back on the track of speedy development.
Earlier Manipur was a leading State in NITI Aayog rating, India Today's assessment and the State was making rapid strides in the fields of industries and many other sectors, Biren claimed.
He said that December 16, 1971 is one of the most significant days in the Indian military history.
Saying that the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 concluded in just 13 days, N Biren lauded the valour and military prowess of the Indian Army.
Maintaining good diplomatic relations with the neighbouring countries under India's foreign policy is very important, Biren said.
He also highlighted efforts taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi toward fostering friendly diplomatic relations with several countries including neighbours like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
In the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war, most of the western countries took Ukraine's side but Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood firm and continued to buy crude oil from Russia, Biren said.
Narendra Modi is a rare leader of the country who is able to take independent decisions.
Now India can manufacture a number of defence equipment, he said.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the relentless efforts of Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF and Manipur Police toward restoring peace in the State.
Now instances of unwanted incidents have been declining and the situation is improving.
This is possible because of people's cooperation, Biren said.
He also asked the concerned authorities to set up a separate committee and take up necessary actions against those people who have been circulating malicious posts in social media which can create misunderstanding among different communities.
Power Minister Th Biswajit who presided the function remarked that India has made remarkable strides in terms of economic growth and also in the field of military industry.
Saying that all sections of people have suffered a lot, he appealed to all the people to focus on restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
