Arms, ammos seized at Kpi village

A combined team of State police and 33 Assam Rifles Keithelmanbi (9-Sector) seized a stock of arms and ammunition from Aithu Kuki Village which falls under the jurisdiction of New Keithelmanbi Village, Kangpokpi today at around 11.30 am but no one was arrested.
The seized arms and ammunition include single bore rifles (5 pieces), four pieces of country made weapons (modified GI pipe), single bore live rounds (36 rounds), one walkie talkie set along with charger and eight mobile phones.
Sources said that a combined team of Patsoi police, Imphal West commandos , New Keithelmanbi police and 33 AR Keithelmanbi (9-Sector) conducted a cordoned and search operation in and around Keithelmanbi and Aithu Kuki Village and seized the arms and ammunition from Aithu Village.
The seized items have been handed over to New Keithelmanbi police station, Kangpokpi.
The seizure has also been confirmed by the Police Control Room (PCR) in its bulletin issued today.
The Control Room also said that firing and cases of arson were reported from adjoining areas of Thinungei Mathak, Phubala and Pangjang areas in the last 24 hours.
It also said that a combined team of Jiribam police and Central security forces arrested three persons from Lalpani Bazar along with 166.93 gram of suspected brown sugar.
The PCR appealed to the public not to believe in rumours and shared the helpline number 9233522822 to clarify rumour.
