Demand for repoll echoes at Mini Secretariat Complex

Ukhrul, June 03 2015 : With reports of violence and booth capturing in most of the polling stations in Ukhrul district pouring in, demand for repoll echoed at the Mini Secretariat Complex in Ukhrul today, reports Mungchan Zimik.

A sit in protest was held at the Mini Secretariat area demanding repoll at Lunghar, Jessami and Soraphung polling stations.

Supporters of a candidate in Lunghar polling station allegedly barricaded the polling station and forced the voters to return.

At Jessami polling station, widespread rigging and proxy voting reached its height so much so that even 12 persons who passed away in a road mishap some time were apparently found to have voted.

At the same time, voting at Soraphung and Jessami polling stations were also disrupted after booth capturing, alleged two candidates.

In the meantime, a reliable source reported that Ngainga 6/5 was also listed for repoll.
