Rs 5000 fine imposed for dumping garbage at public place

Ukhrul, August 08 2023: A fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed on a person by the Ukhrul Police for dumping garbage on the roadside near Gandhi Chowk today despite prohibitory orders by the District Administration.

The violator has been identified as Ken Muinao of Ngainga village currently staying at Phungreitang, Ukhrul.

The Ukhrul Police detained Ken Muinao and fined him Rs 5000 for violation of Ukhrul town waste management rules and restrictions imposed by the Ukhrul District Administration.

It might be mentioned that Small Town Committee (STC), under the Autonomous District Council (ADC) Ukhrul in collaboration with the District Administration and Ukhrul Police on Wednesday last conducted a massive cleanliness drive around Ukhrul town and cleared the waste dumped on the roadside of the market areas of the town.

Further ADC, Ukhrul issued an order to impose a fine of Rs 5000 upon any person violating the waste management rules adopted by the District Administration.

Ukhrul police also informed that security personnel have been deployed in market areas to check such activities.
